..among abbeys and two wineries.
Afterwards, we will go to Rosciano at Marramiero winery, there we'll visit the wine cellar and we'll have a guided wine tasting.
The Marramiero family has cultivated grapes since the beginning of the last century. After a careful selection of existing rootstocks in the sixties and seventies, they planted new vineyards to expand production.
Another important step came in the early nineties when Dante Marramiero, in an effort to combine modern technology with traditional agricultural methods, built the current winery: La Masseria Sant’Andrea.
This winery is located in the heart of Abruzzo on a hill 270 meters above sea level. Here, for more than a century, the Marramiero family dedicated itself to the cultivation of indigenous vines such as Montepulciano and Trebbiano as well as other international varietals of considerable stature.
After lunch, we will get back to our itinerary on the hills of Pescara, to reach the historic winery Bosco Nestore.
This winery has been established since 1897, when Giovanni Bosco started, on the "Lovers Hill" of Pescara, his wine business producing what later became the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, famous worldwide for its intensive bouquet and a spicy taste .
Since 1968 Bosco wine is famous thanks to the recognition of the DOC Montepulciano d'Abruzzo and to the historic label which still identifies the quality of Bosco Nestore wine .
We will taste the wines and visit the cellar - a underground architectural gem - built in the 80's by Giovanni Bosco Jr., in the countryside of Nocciano .
A scenic road through olive groves and vineyards, will lead us to Moscufo, a small town in Pescara inland, well known for the its production of Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Here we will visit Santa Maria del Lago church house of one of the most beautiful pulpits of Abruzzo's sculptural tradition.
