The picturesque village of Scontrone rises on a spur of Monte Tre Confini, at the mouth of the Barrea's gorge. It is located 1038 m above sea level on the left bank of the River Sangro, a strategic position both for its proximity to the National Park of Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise and to the ski lifts of Roccaraso. Colorful murals are the frame of Scontrone, authentic village of Italy, which has a Museum Complex of five museums and a paleontological site with fossils dating back ten million years.
Trip program: guided tour of the village and of the Museum Complex. Opportunity to have the guided trip along a didactic-naturalistic path to the paleontological site (about thirty minutes long walk). Duration 4 hours.
