Between two kingdoms

On the border between the old Papal State and the Bourbon Kingdom (now the border between Marche and Abruzzo), this tour is named after the district of the Gran Sasso Laga National Park, where  are located the beautiful towns of Campli, a real treasure trove of historical and artistic beauty, and of Civitella del Tronto, the last Bourbon stronghold to fall during the unification of Italy.

 Program:

Visit of Campli, a art town, walking among the narrow streets and the old town walls.

Guided tour of the former Cathedral of Santa Maria in Platea, with a wooden ceiling completely painted in 1700, and the medieval crypt inside, enriched with frescoes dating from around 1330. Visit the Holy Stairs of Campli, one of the few recognized in the world. Visit to the fifteenth-century Loggia dello Speziale and the Renaissance building Casa del Medico.

Walk in the historical center of Civitella del Tronto, included in the Club of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy. Visit of the Ruetta, of Italy the narrowest street (old walkway of the soldiers).

Visit the Fortress of Civitella del Tronto and the adjoining Museum of Arms. From the top of the Fort you can enjoy the beautiful views, ranging from the Twin Mountains to the Gran Sasso chain until you get to the view the sea.
