Scurcola and Sante Marie, among mountains and food

A journey through parks and nature reserves where you can taste the Marsica typical products: truffles and potatoes, spelled and ancient grains, selected meat and good smelling cakes.

Friday: Afternoon - Arrival and accomodation in hotel or B&B; Abruzzo typical dinner with final Gentian tasting.

Saturday: Morning - Hike in the mountain woods searching for truffles. Together with the tartufaro (truffle collector) and his faithful dog to know the stories and secrets of this precious tuber. Lunch time at your disposal.

Afternoon - Guided tour of the archaeological site of Alba Fucens located at almost 1,000 m above sea level at the foot of majestic Mount Velino. During Roman times, the citadel was inhabited by 6,000 settlers who built fortifications to defend themselves against the constant  attacks of Equi. Abruzzo typical dinner with local produce and final Gentian tasting.

Sunday: Morning - Walk through the village and visit to the museum of Brigantaggio (banditry), a phenomenon that has been of great importance in theMarsica and that saw the capture of the bandit Jose Börjes, the Catalan general sent to Italy to bring back to the throne Francesco II. Abruzzo typical lunch with local produce and final Gentian tasting.
