Among San Liberatore a Majella Abbey, the village of Pretoro and Crecchio Castle.
In the morning we will visit the famous abbey of San Liberatore a Majella in Serramonacesca, the most important Benedictine complex in Abruzzo, dating from the eleventh century. Then we'll reach Pretoro, a characteristic village built with the Majella stone, which preserves untouched medieval remains. After lunch we will reach Crecchio to visit its De Riseis Castle, dating from the twelfth century and today houses the Archaeological Byzantine and High Middle Ages Museum. The castle hosted King Vittorio Emanuele II, his wife the Queen and Prince Umberto fleeing from Rome in the night of 9 September 1943.
