One of the most spectacular Maiella valleys where you can still see the caves used as shelters by the sheperds.
The valley of the three caves, starting from Pennapiedimonte, is characterized by long rocky ramparts to the bases of which are rock caves. In some of these caves it can read pastoral inscriptions, such as the name of the shepherd and/or some design. Up to several years ago all the caves were connected by a dense network of paths frequented mainly by local shepherds; today only some sections have remained intact because of the increasing lack of sheep-farming. The mountain pine slowly, but surely is reclaiming its territory.
Touristic spot: Pennapiedimonte (houses built with the typical Maiella stone)

Please be advised that you'll walk on an expert hikers trail of 16,00km for 5 hours plus stops time.
Please note that during the trip you have to stick to the rules of behavior in the mountains (such as: do not pick protected flowers, do not light fires, cackle, etc) and strictly follow the logistical arrangements of the guide.
