Discovering the Authentic Villages among Middle Ages and nature.
9:30am San Clemente a Casauria Abbey: Arrival and visit to the Abbey of San Clemente a Casauria, one of the oldest and most important monastic buildings in the center and south of Italy. It's located in the National Park of Majella, between farms and ancient castles owned by the Abbey. It reached the greatest political influence and it artistic heyday between 1176 and 1182 with abbot Leonate, of the earls of Manoppello.Built in Romanesque style with Burgundy elements , the Abbey has preserved and handed down for centuries theological messages, historical and artistic knowledge and also the tecnique of how to grow crops, raise and produce wine. Many local typical products and traditions started from here and since then they are still present in neighboring villages. Among them the traditional Moscatello di Castiglione, a delicious nectar-like dessert wine.
12:00am Visit to Azienda Agricola ANGELUCCI in Castiglione a Casauria; Angelucci is the only wine producer that hasIt is the only wine producer who has recovered an ancient vine variety, the Casauria, and has revived the production of Moscatello di Castiglione, a delicious dessert wine, quoted from ancient documents. Here we will taste all the wines of the winery, including the Moscatello, and some products of the farm, along with a light lunch with local produce and ingredients chosen from the best local specialties.
4:00 Roccamorice: Visit to Roccamorice, one of the Authentich Villages of Italy in Pescara Province. Included in the mountain community of Majella and Morrone, the village seems to have stopped to the Middle Ages, with remains of defensive bastions dating back to Late Antiquity. The village seems carved directly into the mountain. Walking through alleys, arches and picturesque stairways one can discover architectural remains of great value, such as the Abbey of Santo Spirito a Majella. It was probably founded before the year one thousand, the building was restored by Pietro da Morrone, who came here in the mid-thirteenth century.
